Alexa Dobbs, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT
My baccalaureate education in physical therapy was completed at the University of Washington in 1974. I earned certifications as an orthopedic specialist from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 1993 and from the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy in 1994. In 1999, I completed a Fellowship with the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy.

Special Certifications and Continuing Education
I am a member of the Board of Examiners for AAOMPT and NAIOMT and am also a faculty member of NAIOMT. I published 3 articles for the Orthopedic Clinics of North America in 1999 and 2000. I am currently working on my doctorate degree at Pacific University.

In the Practice
I have found that educating the patient on their role in recovery is a key factor. I also use various techniques to restore function: joint and soft tissue mobilization, muscle energy, massage, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, etc. In addition to serving as faculty for NAIOMT, I also conduct seminars for dentists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals on the physical therapy approach to managing head, neck, and facial pain.

Family and Community
I love to travel, play piano, tap dance, hike and ski. I share my passion for skiing with others as a volunteer ski instructor for Outdoors for All, an organization which enriches the lives of children and adults with disabilities through outdoor recreation.
